Ecology/wildlife on our developments

Our commitment to creating the best possible living environment does not stop at the design and build of our homes. We also place a great deal of emphasis on the wider environment.

We appreciate the importance of green space and will always look to enhance the natural environment through beautiful landscaping design and preservation of protected areas.

We are committed to supporting the wildlife living within our natural habitats, so we fit bird boxes, bee bricks, bat boxes and hedgehog highways in our gardens and communal areas on our developments and provide ongoing financial support to Freshwater Habitats Trust which aims to protect and preserve freshwater life.

We pay for a year-long RSPB subscription for our new homes customers, and we also provide ongoing financial support to Plant Heritage to conserve the diversity of garden plants for people to use and enjoy.

Reducing waste

Since 2015 we have worked with Community Wood Recycling, a network of social enterprises focused on collecting and reusing waste wood in the most environmentally beneficial way whilst creating jobs and training for disadvantaged people.

In 2024 Shanly Homes rescued 80.9 tonnes of wood from the waste stream saving 40 tonnes of CO2.

Energy efficient homes

From the procurement of energy efficient and sustainable materials to the use of thermal efficient methods of build and effective disposal of waste, our team work hard to ensure that we minimise the environmental impact of our operations without compromising on quality.

We partner with well-respected, high-end suppliers to ensure all our appliances are energy-efficient and offer our customers the opportunity to live more economically and reduce their energy and water consumption.

Low energy LED downlights are fitted as standard, and within indoors cupboards, communal areas, bin and bike stores, and outdoor lighting, PIR lighting is standard.

In the community

Since 1969 the charitable arm of our business, Shanly Foundation and Shanly Group have contributed over £28 million to those in need of a helping hand, from youth clubs, schools, and woodland projects to centres for adults with physical and learning disabilities. These good causes are primarily based within Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Hertfordshire, Oxfordshire, West Sussex, Surrey, Kent, and Hampshire.

Peace of mind for our customers

We registered with the New Homes Quality Board in August 2023 to offer our customers greater transparency and confidence in buying a Shanly home. The New Homes Quality Board is a non-profit organisation dedicated to improving the quality of new homes and customer service provided by developers and oversees the New Homes Ombudsman service.

All our homes are covered by a 10-year insurance backed warranty as well as a 2-year customer care warranty.

We are proud to have a Trustpilot rating of 4.7 and have received the In-house Research Gold Award for Customer Satisfaction for 7 consecutive years.
